About Us

History

Christina Jones LCGI, is the proprietor of Dashin' Hounds in Dundonald. After acquiring a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier called Ella, Christina had trouble finding a groomer who could handle such a specialised breed and decided to complete a dog grooming course herself.

In 1996 Christina started off from her garage, planning to groom a few dogs per week and things grew quickly from there. She opened her first salon in 1997 in Carrickfergus and in the same year won the Shell Livewire Young Business Person of the Year (East) award.

Christina has also started to show and breed Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and ran a national helpline from a leading dog magazine for people interested in the breed.

In 1999 Christina opened her second salon in East Belfast and continued to work between the two salons. In 2001 Christina took part in the popular BBC television show "A Fish Out Of Water" in which she swapped jobs for the programme with hairdresser Patrick Mulholland.

In 2003 dashin' Hounds Belfast moved to Dundonald and the salon in Carrickfergus was sold so that Christina could concentrate more on the training of others while still managing the Belfast salon.
